Capsule Carbon

Common name: lakrika koyelah
English name: wood charcoal, medicinal charcoal, carbo ligni

Action and uses: wood charcoal is an important article from the sanitary, medical as well as economical point of view. It is used as a deodorizer in sick rooms by hanging them in muslin bags. Boiling water with a good-sized piece of freshly prepared charcoal purifies water. Charcoal is used in respirators to protect from poisonous gases.

Internally it is given after food in dyspepsia, flatulence, acidity, diarrhea, dysentery and typhoid fever.

Indications: hyperacidity

How does it work?
Activated charcoal is a traditional remedy for treating excess stomach and intestinal gas. It works by attracting excess gas in the stomach and bowels, which binds to the surface of the charcoal powder. This relieves the discomfort caused by excess gas (flatulence), wind, indigestion and heartburn. The charcoal is not absorbed from the gut.

Activated charcoal is also used in hospital emergency departments to treat poisoning. However, when used in this way, activated charcoal is given in much larger doses than those contained in this preparation
